My favorite fictional character has, since early childhood has been, John Clayton, Lord Greystoke AKA Tarzan of the Apes.
A little later I discovered, through Marvel comics, Clark Savage Jr. AKA Doc savage.
When I was about 11 or 12, I discovered in a library a book by Philip Jose’ Farmer called Doc Savage his Apocalyptic Life.
Within this book were references to a theory that Tarzan and Doc were related by blood!!!!
Not only that, but Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, The Shadow, Dr. Fu-Manchu and a bunch of other characters were in the same family!!!!!!!
This WAS TOO COOL!!!!!!!!
I also learned the Farmer had written a similar book, beforehand called Tarzan Alive.
I wouldn’t find a copy of this elusive tome until I was 21.
I BECAME OBSESSED!!!!!
Over the ensuing years I was able to find old paperbacks whilst haunting used bookstores (This was before the internet and ebay, kids) that contained the incredible adventures of some the other family members I was not familiar with, like The Spider, The Avenger, Allan Quatermain etc.
I even started creating my own theories about who else might be included in this Family/Shared Universe.
In 1997 I wrote an article called the Daughters of Tarzan.
The only sucky part was that none of my Buds found my hobby of any interest.
Then came the Internet.
In 1998 I was hanging out with my best friend, Donna at her office.
They had her working till about 12:30 am on weeknights so I would keep her company.
The office had really fast net access, so I was surfing around.
On a whim, I typed in "Wold Newton" to a search engine….
The early version of THIS popped up!!
I was in heaven!!!!!!
Since then I found the friendship and co-scholarship I’d never thought I’d find
These guys not only shared my passion for this strange hobby, but we honestly all like each other.
This hobby has led to…
Me starting my own WNU related website
A visit from a couple of magnificent Aussies,
Being able to attend Comic-Con as a professional
Hanging out with fellow WNU Buds, like
NOW THIS!!!!!!

Yes I’Chuck can say that I am a professional author, AND one of the worlds TOP TWENTY Wold Newton Scholars!!!!!!
LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
To order this book go here, here or here
Thanks to my Bud for life...

ENTER THE SCARECROW!
Jack Sparrow is an old friend of Mr. Mipps. The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (aka Dr. Syn aka Captain Clegg) comes to the rescue when Sparrow and his ship are captured.
Story by Michael Stewart and Bret Blevins in Disney Adventures Comic Zone, linking Captain Jack Sparrow and the events of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl into the Wold Newton Universe. Philip Jose Farmer implied the existence of the Scarecrow / Dr. Syn in his World of Tiers series. This story occurs after the adventures told in Disney’s film Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow, which is an adaptation of Further Adventures of Doctor Syn, occurring in 1776-77. Matthew Baugh notes that “In this story Mr. Mipps is presented in a manner more consistent with the bland fellow in the Disney movie rather than the impish (and very dangerous) character from the novels. He is referred to as ‘Dimity Mipps’ a name which is only used in the Disney movie. It is easy to assume that ‘Dimity’ was a nickname that the pirates had for Mipps.”

That was agent13 that brought that up.
agent13 has been in Wold Newton stuff for awhile.
He was once my foe, but since it is hard to find buds who are well read, into Wold Newton AND are wrasslin' fans, we are now friends, and he is on my lj friends list.
